The right way to set the dinner table
Setting a table can be both an art and a science, but with a few simple steps, you can create a beautiful, inviting table setting.
1. Start by spreading a tablecloth over the table. Place it so that it hangs equally over each side and down to the floor.
2. Place the dinner plates in the center of the table about six inches from the edge of the table.
3. To the left of the plate, place the bread plate. Above the plate, put the napkin.
4. Place soup bowls above the dinner plate, centered over the plate.
5. Place the glassware and silverware on either side of the plate. Place the knife with the blade facing in towards the plate. The spoon should be placed to the right of the knife, and the fork should be placed to the left of the knife.
6. Add additional pieces such as salad forks or dessert forks, depending on the size of the table and the number of guests.
7. Place a butter knife on the bread plate.
8. If desired, use decorations to add a special touch to your table, such as candles, flowers, or place cards.
By following these simple steps, you can turn any table into a beautiful, inviting space for gathering and dining with friends and family.
